Danbury is one of Connecticut’s largest towns; Democrats have a significant voter registration advantage, yet Republicans had held the mayor’s seat for the prior 22 years. The previous cycle, Democrat Roberto Alves lost by just 290 votes; this cycle was a pivotal rematch to close the margin and finally unseat the GOP from power. The incumbent mayor had raised taxes, schools were struggling, and the town saw spikes in crime - the polling showed these issues mattered, and we had the chance to capitalize on these vulnerabilities.

Our 12-piece mail program targeted moderate persuadable voters while consolidating our base, and we included newly registered voters who we believed we could persuade. The mail reintroduced voters to Roberto Alves and his agenda, drew a clear contrast on the issues (taxes, crime, schools, and accountability), and employed social pressure tactics to mobilize Democratic voters.

Danbury elected the first Democratic mayor in over 20 years with 51.35% of the vote, upsetting the GOP incumbent and breaking the Republicans’ supermajority in the town. In 2025, we again worked with Mayor Alves to help him secure a comfortable re-election.
